Blackcap Privacy Policy

Blackcap is a small macOS utility that turns the menu bar area black so the notch blends in. It is designed to work without collecting anything.

What Blackcap does not do

• It does not collect, store or transmit personal data.
• It does not use analytics, crash reporting, advertising or tracking of any kind.
• It does not connect to the internet. The app has no network access.
• It does not record your screen. Blackcap never asks for the Screen Recording permission.

What stays on your Mac

• Settings (for example rounded corners and which displays to use) are stored in the app's own preferences.
• Processed wallpapers. When you use the wallpaper method, Blackcap renders a copy of your wallpaper with a black bar and stores it inside the app's sandbox container. A small ledger remembers which original belongs to which copy so it can be restored. Unused copies are deleted automatically after a week; you can delete them anytime in Settings › Wallpaper.
• File access. If your wallpaper lives outside the locations the app may read, macOS shows a file dialog. Granting access stores a read-only bookmark to that one file so the app does not have to ask again. Nothing else is read.

Diagnostics report

Settings › About › "Copy Diagnostics Report" puts a plain-text report on your clipboard. It contains display details, the wallpaper's file path and type, settings and recent log lines. It never contains image contents. The report leaves your Mac only if you paste it somewhere, for example into a support request.

App Store

Blackcap is distributed through the Mac App Store. Apple's purchase and download processing is covered by Apple's privacy policy.
